Links Arbitration Decisions - Norman Pickell

Advance

One of the advantages of arbitration over court is that the Arbitrator's decision (also known as the award) is confidential between the parties. The public cannot find out what the decision is except with the consent of the parties. Hence, Norman Pickell is unable to show you decisions or awards that he has made as an arbitrator. However, because most court proceedings are public, he is able to let you read court decisions that he has made as a Small Claims Court Judge.

Here are some of those decisions:

2005

Northwood Beach Resort v. Deweerd involved a dispute over the definition of "real estate" and whether a fee was collectable on the sale

Parlardg v. Parlardg involved the maintenance and sale of a time-share condo

Progress Aluminum v. Petrie involved the installation of siding on a home

Township of Perth South v. Turner involved a dispute as to who should pay for the paving of a road

2002

Redmond v. West Wawanosh Insurance involved whether the insurance policy covered the damage

Zizak v. Lyons and Mulhern involved whether there was automobile insurance coverage

2001

Gascho v. Town of Clinton involved whether Town was liable for a tree limb falling on a car

1999

McInnis v. Grant involved the effect of a warranty for a septic system after a sale

1998

Gibson v. Dankwardt involved the destruction by fire of some cars being restored
